Piana, Scandola & the Sanguinaires Islands in your Windowframe

The beach, just below the holiday resort, is the starting point of serveral sea excursions bringing you to the marvels of Corsica’s west coast. A discovery journey within a day or an evening outing…

The Calanques de Piana rocky inlets, Scandola Marine & Nature Reserve, Girolatta

Hurry to the beach and jump onboard for an outing straight to the marvelous western coast of Corsica. After having passed alongside the Sagone Gulf, the Greek village of Cargese appears before you with its two churches facing each other. Higher up, the red hues of the granite, green of the maquis underbrush and blue of the Mediterranean Sea blend into a rare harmony. This is where Piana, village of the inlets, its calanques and its Capu Rossu are unveiled. And then, the moment has come where you penetrate the Porto Gulf and discover the Scandola marine & nature reserve listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before your last port call to the village of Girolatta, accessible uniquely via the sea. An excursion to be imprinted on your mind for a long, long time.

The Sunset of the Sanguinaires Islands and Capu Rossu

Late in the afternoon, come onboard for an unforgettable moment of twilight. A Skipper whisks you off to the heart of two exceptionally beautiful sites: the Sanguinaires islands half-way between Ajaccio and the Lava Gulf, and to Capu Rossu at Piana. A 3-hour excursion starting from the beach below the holiday resort.

Road Trip: Setting out to Conquer Western Corsica

Although sea outings offer magnificent sightings of the landscape, discovering the western coast of Corsica via the road enables you to enter the heart of historic villages such as Cargese and Piana.

Cargese: A unique Corsican village where the Orthodox and Catholic Churches meet.

Just a few minutes from Cargese, the village of Piana, listed as among the most beautiful of France, awaits you. Half-way between the village core and Arone Beach, renowned as one of Corsica’s loveliest beaches, is the starting point of the hiking trail leading to Capu Rossu: a headland reaching its summit at 331 meters above sea-level.

Extending further along the Piana calanques, the Porto Gulf with its little village and square Tower gradually becomes visible in an incredibly stunning landscape!

A bit to the north, you’ll find one of Corsica’s most splendid gems: the Scandola Marine & Nature Reserve. Listed by Unesco as a World Heritage of Humanity Site, this area is totally protected and repopulates the western Mediterranean with an incredible wealth of wildlife. A relic of a volcanic period, extremely ancient for Corsica, nature has left some unique traces such as the ‘marine organs’ in red granite taking a vertiginous plunge into the pure blue of the sea!
